your temps are a little low...85*F is only 29.4*C. Royals need a temp of 32*C (90*F)in the warm end, have a read through the care sheet posted on here to help you get set up. |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 16:16:58 my advice is to:- -put him in a room with minimum traffic cover the faun with a towel/sheet -leave him for 7-10 days (only changing the water) no handerling -then try him with a rat pup/small mouse just as it starts to get dark -try to get him to strike feed if he doensnt strike leave the pray at the entrance of the hide he is in and dont disturb until the morning.
and also try packing out the faun with loads of vines plants hides if it looks cramped its good. |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 16:01:30 a python that age shouldnt need force feeding . every time you feed him it will be stressing him out. as BE said above try feeding him normaly either by strike feeding or leaving in there over night.
what wieght is your royal.
the setup sounds fine have you got a hide in both hot and cool end. |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 13:54:32 I didn't read that earlier, sorry. Very odd that a shop would sell or someone would buy a force-feeding royal. Its only 3 months old so how do they know it will only force feed? - I would try offering a Rat Pup and just see if he will take it.
When did it last feed? When did you get it? What is your setup like? |

your royal needs force feeding. i find that a concern that a shop has sold you a royal that needs force feeding? have they told or shown you how they were feeding it? |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 13:20:06 I would go straight to Rat Pups personally and if it doesn't take to them, try small mice. |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 13:02:16 does it matter if the pet shop has only fed it pinkies do i build up the size or just go onto rat pups or a small mouse thanks very much for the advice much needed |

Posted - 12/07/2009 : 12:53:33 Both Pinkies and Fuzzys (if you're talking mice) are too small for a Royal hatchling really, I would go straight to a small mouse or ideally a Rat Pup.
