Posted - 22/10/2009 : 13:42:45 Hi there. I am hopefully going to clinch the deal on my 1st pair of Royals tonight :) It must be about 11 years, maybe more, since I last kept snakes but I have been missing them. I used to breed cali kings (mainly) but these royals are looking for a home and I've been looking for snakes and some of royal morphs around nowadays are stunning; it all just feels right-they are a young paid of normals that I would hope to breed in around 18 months, so here's hoping. It will be so good to have reptiles back in the house. I have managed to gleam some basic info on royal colour genetics but where is the best place to get more? |

Posted - 23/10/2009 : 13:25:56 Thanks for the info. I'm in love-went to see the pair last night and they are gorgeous; both about 2 years old so, assuming I can get them to a good weight, I'm still hoping to breed them in 2011. Both good feeders-I actually saw both of them feed even though the male was just starting to cloud and the female has some old skin on from her last slough, which I'm sure is just a humidity problem as she is otherwise looking very good and her head and neck were well clear. |

Posted - 22/10/2009 : 21:52:08 hi and welcome to the forum. there is a bit of info in the breeding thread on the main forum page but you have probably already read that. Just hunt the web would be the best bet. there are a few book out there but they cost the earth and i can't remember the names of them but i'm am sure some one will give them to you.
As for breeding in 18months time. you need to make sure you know what age your royals are now. Females should really be in their 3rd winter at least and weigh 1500g at least. So if that not in 18months time you might have to revise your plans a bit. |
