im getting my first royal this weekend and its a cb 07.its not my first python tho as i have a gtp and in no means my first snake.but for some reason im very excited about getting a royal.i know they can be tempramental feeders any advice?also its a bit viv defensive but fine when out anytips in stopping this?

hey there have a ball python too i love him?her to bits not sure of sex was told it was a girl when i bought her ,she was about to be gotten rid of by her previuos owner and as i didnt like the sound of it decided to buy her and give her a loving home ,have had no probs appart from when we moved into our new house and she never ate for a while but apart from that nothing , i dont know how old she is i have had her for two years and she weighs 1765g,she eats and sheds with no problems so i guess she is happy will try and put some pics up when i figure out how to any tips and advice are welcome cheers

no not sure of weight but he said late 07 so thought that was why.hes giving me her feed and shedding records with her and her rub so she doesnt go off feeding with the move.figers cross shes not for sale due to being on a strike then! the gtps a biak shes cb08 and still yellow so well pleased but is on the change bit by bit

she looks lovely. welcome to the forum. Do you know what wait she is? may be the photo but i think she looks on the small side for an 07.

oh and put up some pics of your GTP in the other pythons section. what local is it?

Hi and welcome, yes they have that reputation for non feeding but really if they are kept correctly they feed fine just don't get too over stressed if they refuse a couple of times they will eat when hungry providing everything else is ok :)

Hi...great choice getting a royal as for the not feeding thing, don't worry about it too much (unless condition is lost)...i find mine eat if they are hungry

hello and welcome. i'd be excited too, it doesn't seem to matter how many you've have or have had a new addition is always exciting.
i've been lucky as far as feeding goes, although i need to try to get him onto rats rather than mice and i've read that they can sometimes turn their noses up at rats.
the only time monty has been funny about being picked up he was going into shed and think is eyesight wasn't at it's best. guess the best thing to advise is to be confident and persevere gently and hopefully in time he'll be better.
