Hello everyone!
I have decided to buy my first Royal python, I'll be going out tomorrow to have a look at some suitable vivariums and try to pick one up quickly with all the equipment but I had a question for you all here.

apologies if any of my termonolgy is wrong here, try to fill in the blanks if you can ;)

I'm interested in getting either the Genetic Stripe, Piebald or Albino royal python but I have absolutely no idea what kind of prices I'll be looking at and I don't really want my pants pulled down over the price from whoever I purchase from, could you guys enlighten me as to what these morphs are worth?

Thanks guys! Great to be part of the forum.
Kelfezond

Edit: Also if anybody knows a good place I can buy a Royal in the Hampshire area or Online please let me know.

Sounds like a good shop, most will just try and sell you the largest viv possible for the money, he's right, Royals are quite agoraphobic and large spaces can cause a lot of stress to them. Make sure your setup comes with a thermostat.

Enjoy

I'm getting a 25x15x15 but will be changing it in for a 32x15x15 later, don't know if that was just the shopkeeper bull****ting me to get me to buy two viv's but he said she'd need a smaller one for starters and I figured it's worth it if it keeps her happy. I just asked him to include everything I'd need for her equipment wise in the price and he offered to set it all up tomorrow, I'll double check everything is correct when I get it home tomorrow before I put her in though :)

Welcome.

Doesn't seem to be too many of us from down south on here so don't feel so alone anymore.

Royals are just the most beautiful creatures, as I am sure you will come to find out.

If you had told me 6 months ago I would own a snake I would have laughed at you, but I have my first little boy, Kanu, who is just the best little man.

Good luck. Give her a while to settle in if you can.

Update on my progress.

The plan was to go out today and look at a suitable vivarium, check some prices out and set it all up then buy the snake on my birthday (The 7th sep) however fate intervened and I discovered a young female, no morph on her which wasn't my original plan but when I discovered that she came from a terrible owner and had a few burns down her belly I felt sorry for her, after holding her I just had to buy that one. The chap at the shop said when he rescued her she wasn't feeding but he's managed to get her to eat twice now and she struck each time :D

I pick her up tomorrow along with her vivarium, will post some photos tomorrow for you all to see :D

Awesome, thanks for the info!

Apologies, I have joined the forum and spent my first post extracting info about prices and stuff from you all, I hope to be an active member of the forum so I'll tell you all a little about me.

My name is Steve, I work as a security guard and am studying to become a games designer.I am obsessed with computers and a collector of tattoos. I live just outside of Portsmouth in the south of england. I used to own a corn snake as a kid and have now finally persuaded the other three people who I live with (who happen to have a slight fear of snakes) to let me get this Python for my 21st birthday which will be on September the 7th!

I'll be sure to post some pictures and videos of the fella once he/she gets here and I'm sure I'll be asking a load of questions about what more I can do for him/he.

It's great to be on the forum and thanks for the welcome, I'll keep you updated over the next few weeks on how my progress for finding my companion goes

You're probably looking at around £1000 for the Pied or GS, around £500 for the Albino.
