Posted - 30/11/2010 : 20:23:10 Hi all Im here to sit in the background and soak up as much info as I can on Royals. Having got my first corns 4months ago Im thoroughly addicted! I have room for only one more and whilst I was pointed in the direction of a boa I was very swiftly given advice about a Royal being a lot better option for me.
I've gone back to the breeder of my corns and she is breeding her Royals next April, keeping hold of the babies for 4months to make sure they are eating and then I shall be the proud owner of my royal .... So I have nearly a year to soak up all the info I can on them by sitting in the background on here so hopefully when the time comes I'll be an expert :). |

Posted - 05/12/2010 : 20:26:29 Hi welcome to the forum. I went the same route you did. I got a corn then a few months later I got my royal. They are totally different snakes. My wife doesn't really like my cornsnake and doesn't have anything to do with it but she absolutely loves my royal. I look forward to seeing you custom built viv, I have built a few over the years for lizards but for snakes I just use RUBS.

Posted - 01/12/2010 : 14:07:26 Oh I know but I will put the rub in the viv as I have with my corns :). My snakes are safer behind locked glass lol... Kids think they're fantastic... only I can imagine without the lock on the vivs coming into one of the snakes on the table being force fed chocolate spread or something lol! I like to make sure I have everything I am going to need instead of worrying where I am going to find the money when someone actually needs something :) |

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 21:11:40 Thankyou. It's a bit premature to be asking questions just yet but i'm sure as the day approaches I'll be filling up your boards :).... (just ask those on the corn forum hehe). Will be custom building his viv to fit in a alcove so sure that will keep me busy after Christmas and make the time fly by. |

Posted - 30/11/2010 : 20:32:46 Hi and welcome - you've come to the right place. When I first fell in love with royals (after starting with corns) someone directed me to TRP and I just went through all the posts and read and read and learned loads.
But don't just sit in the background - a new voice is always welcome, and as has been said before, no question is a silly one and we can, all of us, even the most senior, learn from discussing the concerns of someone new ... I'm not senior by the way - got my first royal 4 months ago and now I've got three!
All the best with your new royal by the way! |
