Know I've already asked about heat but forgot to say what lamp !
Dlanefox Posted - 25/01/2011 : 23:05:08
Going to get viv tomorrow and the rest of the bits I need. Will see my boy while I'm there not sure what to call him yet.
Glad I got my frogs sorted today so I can concentrate on setting up viv tomorrow. I have a 100watt basking lamp and dimming stat,
Is this going to be enough to heat a 3ft viv? Brought a heat mat too but not too keen on using it for viv, plus used it for frogs today!
Any advice would be welcome want to get this right as hopefully bringing him home this weekend .

Thanks the guy I'm buying from has kept them for years and he is helping with set up but I'm worried about mat being too hot. Might be a bit worried cos had a disaster with my tree frogs recently I brought a dogger that had a light as well it worked well for 3 days on the 4 th the light over heated and made the watervhot and one of the frogs got poached

Hiya,
Glad you got round hubby!
Heat mats are not a good idea as can cause thermal blocking on thicker snakes like royals. Temps should be about 84 f in the middle and that should give about 92 in the hot end on a 3 foot viv.

Others will give more difinitive answers.
