Posted - 02/05/2011 : 18:55:15 Hello to everyone here.
I've never owned a snake before but it has been a long term interest since I was fairly young.
I recently pulled together the confidence to buy a royal python (Mojave morph) two weeks ago and for the most part she seems to be doing okay (eating regularly, generally healthy), though she seems to spend the majority of her time in her hide at the moment - even at night (as far as I can tell).
I have a few questions I would like to pose to the members here, and because I'm very new to snake keeping I expect that will be a regular occurrence until I get more confident with Penelope (my royal's name).
I'm primarily here to talk about the snakes, but I'm also an artist and could link people to my gallery if they are interested (it's mostly video game related artwork). |

I used to tag a lot of important files/documents with 'DoNotDelete' at the end of the file name - and then one day I realised the correlation with my real name initials (D.N.D.); Since then I've been using it as my username on most of the forums/websites I'm on.

Thank you.
I generally call her 'Little Snake' most of the time but I don't think she minds being called 'Penelope' either, haha. |

its not uncommon for them to spend the majority of their time in their hides as they are a shy snake, but each snake is different. any questions feel free to ask the people on here are friendly and helpfull and wont shout at u if you get something wrong
Thanks.
I posted a list of my questions here: http://www.theroyalpython.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5803
There are a lot of them (eight in total).

Hi and welcome, I have to hunt for mine if I want him out, not like a corn she is always out. Good Luck
Thanks. Yeah, my royal doesn't seem distressed, just generally shy.

But yes, the greatest luxury we can allow our royals is privacy; to paraphrase Garbo, it's a case of:
I want to be alone ... But come up and see me sometime .... And bring me a RAT!!
Haha! Yeah, thankfully my little girl doesn't seem to have any problems with eating (in fact I think she might be a bit of a pig when it comes to her food).
She's only on medium-sized mice at the moment though (she's still a baby really). |

Posted - 02/05/2011 : 19:40:25 Hi and welcome - yeah they can be reclusive - mind you they have their moments - there may be times when you find her tapping on the glass and asking for armchair walkies.
