Hi all

I've been reading a lot of posts recently and thought I should say hi, so here's me saying it:

Hi!

I've been researching and reading up on royals for a while, along with my two children (5 and nearly 8) with a view to buying a young one fairly soon. I've been interested in snakes since I was about 12 years old and knew someone with a couple of garters but circumstances were never right for me to contemplate having any of my own. I've always migrated towards the reptile houses in zoos throughout my life, and completely fell in love with royals when I got the opportunity to hold one for the first time a few years ago. Been to a couple of reptile shops found through posts on this site and will be visiting some more, just to see what's around and ask lots of questions. It's good for the children to realise we can't just buy on a whim, and I'm trying to be sensible about the whole thing, when in reality I just want to go out and get one

I'm no doubt going to be asking some ridiculous questions over the next few days, weeks and months, but you seem like a good bunch of people and hopefully I'll learn a lot from you all. Please be gentle with the 'newbie' me - I don't know all the correct terminology yet but I'm trying and will learn as I go along

I've just been reading that thread and it was very useful, thank you! I've been doing much the same as Steve who started that thread and been trying to get everything straight in my head before taking the plunge!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone I'm gearing up to ask lots of questions later

Hi and welcome - yup, everybody's a beginner at some point, and you're in good hands here - this forum helped me a lot when I got my first royal and I'm still learning - that's what I love about snakes. Hope you get your royal soon.

Don't know if you've read this thread, but I always recommend it as it contains so much discussion and info on setting up for a royal for the first time:-
