Posted - 21/11/2012 : 00:24:38 I wanted to ask if this kind of incubator will be able to hold 2 clutches of eggs in it or just one? I could build my own one but I don't have room for anything big one and building something similar size won't cost me a lot less and it won't look as good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNIhJllYhr8 |

Posted - 22/11/2012 : 21:57:22 Humidity in the viv shouldn't matter as long as vermiculite in the individual boxes will stay damp. But if higher humidity required I could always leave bowl of water above heat cable. |

Posted - 22/11/2012 : 17:11:39 What about converting my old viv into an incubator? It could hold at least 8 clutches and if I put some heat reflective foil inside it should hold temp quite well. Will the front sliding glass won't be a problem? As a heat source I could use heat mats or heat cable + pulse stat. |

Oh right, I've not looked too closely, just knew I'd noticed them sometimes!

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 20:30:47 You can get home-made incubators on ebay at a fraction of the cost... |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 18:50:26 Well, that was my first and main question. Will this Nursery II incubator be able to hold two clutches in it. If yes, I don't want to bother with building one as it is going to cost me the same. After year or two it will be easier to sell it comparing to the one that I would build myself. Anyway thank you for advice. |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 12:45:49 I know you don't want to but you could make one just big enough for two clutches then save up bit every week or month and buy a big one in few years when u need space |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 10:51:34 I read even in their manual that readout has to be re-checked with digital thermometer so at least they don't try to hide that the problem exist :) I have seen some good reviews too so I'm confused now. Possibly the biggest problem for me would be the incubator size but for the next 3 years I won't have more than 2 clutches of eggs per season (if I get them at all :) ), which means big incubator would take extra energy + room and it wouldn't be used anyway. Difficult decision. . |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 10:29:08 just had a quick look via google only found 1 post about the heating system packing up an the others just state that the digital readout is not accurate so need to set the temp with a digital thermometer |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 10:15:57 Thank you Chrisc. Yes, I have seen some of these guides how to make one. But if I buy pulse stat, thermometer with hygrometer, heat mat it will cost me nearly £50. I will also have to work few hours to make one. Because I'm going to breed possibly next season I could buy one of those Nursery II incubators possibly for about £50 on ebay if I'm lucky. It looks quite nice, it wouldn't be too expensive and I wouldn't have to waste my time to make one. But to be honest I have never heard that thy are not accurate or they can break down. |

Posted - 21/11/2012 : 09:13:31 i think it was these that i read about the thermostats either not being very accurate or them sometimes breaking, someone might be able to confirm this later.
when i breed my bull snakes next year i will be making an incubator out of a poly box |
