if you use if bulbs then surly you have to turn it off at night to have no light, so then how do you heta it, or do you not have to turn it off, i am planning on maybe getting a royal this year or next year depending on what parents say, and wont to start getting all the stuff ready soonish, or start to collect all the stuff slowly. what is the basic list you will need for a hatchling, i plan to get a 3ft viv and partition it off, so how would i heat it at forst for a hatchling.
Right a Ceramic Bulb gives off no light its only heat so it stays on 24/7 with a dimmer stat which you dont turn off, I think before you buy your royal i would do some more research.
We were talking about red bulbs too, so he had a valid question.
The topic is ceramic so therfore i thought he was regarding the ceramic , sorry i didn't know he was on about the red bulb as he didn't state what bulb he was talking about. |

No, I have mine on 24/7. The IR bulbs give off a red light which the snakes find hard to see, it just seems like dusk or moonlight to them. |

For a basic list this is what im doing: EX Large Faun (Whisky's Old home) Heatmatt Dimmer Stat or PP (Which can be used for Heatmatt's and Heatbulbs) 2hides , fake plants , water dish , roll tubes , vines , logs, substrate, Moss hide.
And this is a set up what im doing for my hatchling, When it grows up and out grows the Faun i will already have built my viv statck x3 , 3ft x 1ft and then i will Fit a Ceramic Heat Fitting to the viv and attach the Ceramic bulb to it and then add my bulb guard and connect it up to the dimmer stat and this will heat my viv for the royal. |

Posted - 17/01/2010 : 15:03:26 I use 250w's in my 3x2x2's as they are the same price as 150w and cos they would be working at less capacity they should last longer. |

So what do you use for your royals for heat ? |
