1 for each, Habistat Dimming Stats.

I have in the past run more than one viv with one stat, but was having problems with a stack with heat transferal, meaning that one viv was a slightly different temperature to another.
Lukee Posted - 18/01/2010 : 08:29:55
And what is your dimming thermostat make do you have one that controls many vivs or one for each?
Blackecho Posted - 18/01/2010 : 07:05:48
The heat bulbs heat the air, there is no need for any other heat source.

When they're young, I use heat mats under RUBs or Fauns, move to bulbs once in a viv.

The Large Exo Terra hides seem to last me to around 1200g, then I use the XL hides.

There's little difference between bulbs and ceramics.

hmm how does the snake get heat in his hide from the bulb because dosnt the bulb heat by the rays or does it heat the whole viv air, so shall I get bulbs like yours or heat mats bulbs look cooler:), also are your balls fall grown snakes is a large exo terra hide fitting a full grown ball python in or will you have to buy the extra large hide, also one more question what sort of thermostat is it what make and does it control all the bulbs or do you have seperate ones for each viv.
Thanks alot your such a pro snake keeper I aim to be as good as you one day hehe:).

No, no heatmats and sorry, not sure what make of locks they are, they aren't all the same, just bought from local shop or ebay or an online reptile shop.
Lukee Posted - 17/01/2010 : 21:51:46

Lukee Posted - 17/01/2010 : 21:51:07

No probs, I have 7 VX vivs and they are all setup in a similar way and work well for me.

I use a double-probed digital thermometer to check the temps at both ends, or you could just get two individual ones. The benefit of these is that they also have alarms built in that I have set so that if the temps get too high or too low, go off.

I use guarded IR bulbs (usually 75W). You can see the dimming thermostat probe on the side:

I have hides at both ends with the water bowl somewhere near the middle, you can see the white probe wire from the thermometer. The probes are or the substrate (Aubiose or Aspen for me) at either end of the viv.

Finished off with some rough bark to aid shedding and some fake plants for cover.
