After Kaa not feeding since the beginning of november, ive been trying every fortnight and had no luck at all, he didnt seem interested in the slightest and shy'd away from the food. Tonight i tried again, and he seemed really interested and even went into the strike position.. after about a minute he looked away and moved. this happened twice, after the second time he went and hid in the top corner of the viv so i couldnt get to him and try again.

Is there anything i should do? Or just try again in another 2 weeks?

Yeah, that's a point - Shahi got tempted by a tiny mouse (corn leftover) and Surahi ate a medium or two before moving back on to large.

Shahi is now fasting again though ...typical!

You just can't predict them!

Sandi I would try that, but kaa isn't on rats yet, and only on mice at the moment unfortunately :(

Sorry, i didnt mean to assume he was on rats. I wonder if a smaller mouse would tempt? Just a thought.
Good luck!

Hi, don't worry if all else is ok then he will feed eventually, I feed all mine in their Vivs and always have done, only my CB10s are feeding at the moment all the older ones are still not eating but they will as the days draw out, try not to worry and just try every week or two and when they start they'll keep going :) I still have a CB09 that hasn't fed since the 15th February and she is still active and refusing - lol

maybe worth a try taking him out for a ride in the car or bus, think you'd get a few funny looks though. we contacted khan's previuos owner and told him he had fed the day after we got him home, he was quite shocked that he had fed so soon. i really am beginning to beleive this really helps. good luck.

Hi, there still seem to be a few doing the same as Kaa - yes, all you can do is just keep offering food every week or fortnight, and personally I'd stick to whatever he's been used to.

It's normal - he's a royal.

Awkward little gits - who'd have 'em eh?

I managed to get Flo back by reducing her food size and offering mice. Now she is fussy and prefers mice to rats but if i rub a mouse on a rat she takes it, so it was worth it for me to go back to mice.

I agree in principal to what trav says but i also think that individuality has a lot to do with it. Flo, last night lay beside her rat for hours but still didnt take it. She is just a fussy eater so I will drop back to mice again, then mice flavoured rats! maybe you could try this?

Good luck!

just out of interest why are you trying to feed in his viv. we have picked up 2 non feeding males in the last month an fed them both with success the day after an hour car ride home with them. some people seem to think that the vibrations of a car ride stimulates their appetite. maybe true, maybe not. either way its either worked for us or as lotabob quoted the other day "you seem to have the knack" personally i'm beginning to think its more of the car ride myth. although we feed in an empty faun with kitchen roll down and are quite presistant. maybe if kaa didnt get away he might have eventually struck. good luck
