My royal seems to be off his food recently and i dont know why....
Hasn't eaten the last two feeds, however has stuck both times, but by morning the rat is just left in the viv...
Any ideas?
Cheers

2 weeks for a royal isnt anything to worry about and moving to a different tub will only freak it out more.

i know its easy to say when your not in the non feeding club but its just a case of keep offering evey week or fortnight and in time snakey will take the food

have you tryied moving him to a small rub for feeding this sometimes works

You may be interested to know that Flo made a strike but then freaked out and left her rat 2 days ago. I just got a large (not very) mouse and rubbed it over a rat. Offered the mouse first, she rushed out of her hide and has taken it. I have left the mouse scented rat in her viv so will keep you posted.

This trick has worked for me before so may be worth trying for you.

As i said above, sometimes they scare themselves if they miss their pray, if yoru Royal has striked for his food as you`ve stated then he will eat, next time you offer pray place it closer to him.

Hi, winter and spring are royal mating seasons; even a young royal may fast during this time as its mind is on ...well, you can imagine.

My cf10 male has eaten 2 small meals in 10 weeks; some older royals have been fasting for months. As Lotabob says, it's what they do.

Offer him food every week or even every fortnight; he'll eventually realise he's hungry again.

If i strike feed flo, she sometimes freaks if i dont let go at the exact moment she strikes. My reflexes arent what they could be!

Some are fussy over rats so if thats your food then maybe a small mouse to temp with would help?

sometimes if they strike and miss it will freak them out a little, just leave it completely alone for a week ( just change the water ) and try again.

If your setup is fine then its a case of its what Royals do

Did you check the temperature if it's between 25-30 ? or you think your snake is lil bit nervous because of too much handling or too much people aroud the viv or no hides available for him in both sides ?.
Can you provide us pictures for the snake and for the viv ?

Probably just thinking about other things, spring is in the air...
