Im looking for a good quality camera preferably nikon or canon but not sure on what type is best to get. i want to take quality photos of my reps like the ones on world of balls and the likes but also would like to use it for fast moving pics (my other passion is motorbikes) are bridge cameras any good or should i just bite the bullet and spend the extra on a dslr? Any model suggestions would be great

F.A.O delboy:- what camera do you use as your now famous photos of the lemonblast are awesome?

Thanks Carl

I use a Sony NEX. Its a compact systems camera. Has changeable lenses, but its mirrorless. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

I think you will want couple of lenses if your going to be switching between motorbiking and snakes. A wide angle or macro lens will be good for getting pics of your snakes. You will be able to get nice close ups with a macro. Then for biking you will want a zoom lens that goes from about 50mm to 200-300mm. You will also want a camera with very fast shutter speeds. 1/1000th sec should be good for motorbikes. The camera will also need big ISO settings to offset the lack of light a faster shutter speed lets in. This can also be controlled by getting lenses with big apertures that let in more light.

Ive just realised this probably makes no sense lol. but hope ive helped a little.

I would definitely go for a DSLR or compact system though.

Me and Adie use a Canon too, brilliant "little" camera (weighs a ton and the battery is scrwey but that's a hardware problem our end - second hand buyer :/ ) I think we use an e20 or some-such, I'm no good with cameras.

Wow, that is a good price!

I'm in the same boat as Carl. There's only so far the iPhone camera can get you Lol. I'm after a dslr for snake pics as well as general day to day use but also astrophotography. Thanks for all the info so far

Don't know what the reviews are like but this seems a good price for a dslr

Hi Carl
It's a Canon EOS 550D dslr (sister in law recommend a canon)
And was in a light tent that I got from eBay

I'd say get a canon but I own one
Same if you ask a Nikon owner he'd say Nikon
Depends on what camp you want to be in really

I'd say one or the other and forget the other makes

Best thing to do is research the camera your thinking of getting
And reading the reviews To see what's best
