Now this may sound totally random . I have a 42w mat plugged into a dimmer stat now its set fairly.high to get the temps I need . I have an adult female and an adult male in two seperate rubs ontop of this mat . The probes are under the rubs and the temp probe inside the rub . The other nite I went to get Cali out so I gently laid my hand ontop of her to let her know I was aandvibrsting buzzing humming buzzing feeling , abit like if u have ever lay on an electric blanket and touched the wall . I felt my adult male and he was the same . I then did the same to my younger male who's on a different mat and he felt the same too . Is this normal ? Is it my electrics ? Has anyone else experienced this ? Touch them with a very light touch and see and I'm totally worried !?

i have just swapped it over to a pp stat and its not as bad , im trying to find as many people that use mats and stats to see if this happens to them . the vibrating isnt as bad now and they arent in contact with the mat . i have a temp prob in the rub and one underneath where the stat prob is so i am double checking the temps . not experienced this before and hope it has no effect on them

I'm in a bit of a similar dilema I've had vivs upto about two months ago but due to the lack of space I switch to a rack, with five rubs intotal all on 17"x 11" heat mats and all plugged into a brand new PP Stat, and the the probe for the stat is in the middle rub, however the heat mat at the top started doing something similar to yours, and even though all the mats are under all the rubs and didn't think thermal blocking was possible I checked the snake and to my horror he looked as though his belly was burned, so since the vets I use were closed I took him to my rep shop and they said it looked more like a urine burn "uric acid" so I'd keep an eye on there bellys for a while just to be sure.

hmmm , they arent in direct contact with the mat , as the mats under the rub , so abit unsure what to do ?
