I don't need to live feed any of mine I'm just having a discussion with someone about the whole live feeding issue and they said as the prey doesn't have the chance to escape and it's going to die and it's illegal to do without te aforementioned license. I've never heard that so was wondering if any of you have?
Personally if it was in the best interest of my snake I would live feed without a shadow of a doubt.
I don't mean to cause any kinda arguement here as I know this is a touchy subject. |

Snakes are ambush predators and dont expect their prey to see them, if the rat is thrown straight in with the snake it could easily have a good chew on the snake. Especially if the snake doesnt feel like eating. |

Posted - 13/12/2012 : 17:28:27 its a catch 22 thing with live feeding your not allowed to cause suffering to the rat/mouse but its also animal cruelty to let the snake starve. supposedly your supposed to get permision/a letter from the vet before live feeding after everything has been tried.
i would live feed before force feeding as when live feeding as a last resort the snake will possibly be too weak to kill the rat an could get injured |

Posted - 13/12/2012 : 17:09:21 Its also classed as aninmal cruelty to let the snake starve tho so bit of a no win situation but aslong as you don't post videos of it on youtube with slipknot blaring out and a group of you cheering it on it is ok to do if its for the good of the snake |
