Posted - 12/01/2011 : 22:10:37 when i got big mama the man told me she has shed 3 times in 4 yrs which i though was odd and she only had a shallow dish for water the same one i use for dragons , so when i took her home her set up was Aplus but i added a med washing up bowl so she could soak but on day 3 i found she had a R.I which i thought must of come from owner b4 , cost loads in vets , so i had to remove water allday and only a small amount at nite for months but she was washed with a wet fannel 3 times aday and she shed 3 times with in 3 months but the 1st was scale by scales and took 5 dyas even with me helping as i think now she never shed properly with that man as she didnt have the humidty and when givien it she couldnt cope , now she sheda about every 3 months but she is a age and i found the owner before last and i was sold her as a 8/9yr sable but in fact she is 28yrs wild caught .so dont worry about shed as it will happen.every VIP is diff just like kids. |

LOL - really glad to hear that! My Shahi had a poor start but he's now known as Fatboy Slim - they catch up! |

Posted - 12/01/2011 : 17:07:42 Hi, UncleNos! So those two little ones are doing well now - that's great. They had a very slow start, didn't they? That's why, I think, the shedding's delayed. I have a little corn snake who I bought as a poor feeder - she still eats erratically, and although she's growing, it's slowly - and it's anyone's guess as to when she sheds. The more they eat and grow the more frequently they shed. I'm sure that now they're eating regularly they'll be shedding soon.
(Having said that, there are a lot more experienced people than me on here who may be able to SHED some more light on this ...er, sorry about the pun!)
All the best. |
