Out of sheer noseyness... what's the story behind your various snakes' names?

Betty - well she was my first corn, i really wanted a carolina but this little anery just sad in my hands looking sorry for herself. Anery's used to be my least favourite morph, and i really wanted a boy snake so i could call him Sanchez. So here's this little sweetie sat in my hand looking adorable and that was that. Just black and white and grey, big goggly eyes and none feeding. I'm a huge Ugly Betty fan (the TV show) and it just seem to suit her! She's now growing in a beautiful Betty!

Sanchez - well i just love Mexican sounding names, and Sanchez sounds like some sort of bandit! He is a bandit - not a biter but likes to be left alone when he wants to be left - he makes his own rules LOL

Chancho - again the obsession with Mexican sounding names!! Means pig in Spanish, ironic name for a royal i suppose! I love the film Nacho Libre and there's a fat kid in the film called Chancho, so i always thought with pythons being a chunkier build the name would suit, and it does!

So what's your name story? Some really cool names on here :D so i reckon we're in for an interesting thread! :D

When I told my girlfriend I was getting a royal python she immediately said "call it Juju" I liked the name but I had to ask why? Apparently it was the name of a snake in the disney film princess and the frog. So now I had to watch the film first to decide whether it was a suitable name.
Anyway, when the scene came up with Juju in, I laughed all the way through, and the name stuck!

Well I wanted a Jungle Carpet Python, until i found out about them not being best for a First snake, because the colours where black and kinda yellow I chose the name 'Wiz' After Wiz Khalifa hence 'Black and Yellow'. I ended up with a corn snake :) and stuck to Wiz cause he was fast and I do love Wiz Khalifa. When i Got my royal i was lost for names, I asked on here enough haha. One night i was watching him while listening to 'Young, Wild and Free' By Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg i thought hes so nosey, and cause Snooping was being nosey and snoop and wiz had collaborated on an album I decided that Snoop would be the best name for my royal and it makes sense to my friends without them asking :)

Oh, Suggs! Cool! I used to love that band (well I would with a username like mine lol.) Welcome to the forum, Steve.

Just a quick update - for the past few weeks I've been unable to stop thinking about a snake named Sulah. I've even found myself starting to talk about the non-existent Sulah. A good excuse to get another snake and so she's here, an Irian Jaya carpet python.

In the 70s I had a cat called Sulah and the name just sort of came. I thought I'd made it up, but having now googled it, I see that 'Sula' is old Norse for 'gannet', 'Sulah' is Urdu for 'reconciliation' and also 'Sula' is Indonesian for 'island' as in Sulawesi which isn't that far from Irian Jaya ...

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin ...

SHAHI - Urdu for 'royal'
SAADA - Arabic name meaning 'happiness'
SURAHI - one of those Asian water vessels with the narrow neck and plump belly - very appropriate for a royal
SHIVA - A Hindu deity of great benevolence and power who is usually depicted meditating with a cobra round his neck

ZISKA - gophers come from California - San Francisco - German version of Francesca, Franziska, plus there's a Victorian novel entitled 'Ziska - the problem of a wicked soul' ...erm, oh dear. But have always loved the name.

SHADRACH - I wanted an American sounding biblical name and Shadrach means 'commanded by Aku' a Babylonian moon god.

BUFFY - I chose the name before I met her; I had seen the buff and rust patterned Carolinas in the shop and 'Buffy' sprang to mind
SPIDER - as I was putting her into her viv, I said, 'Come on, Spider.'
SPOOKY - came home and said, 'My name is Salome Spooks. I am a girl.' But as I didn't know for sure I called her Spooky, since she's a ghost corn
SAFFRON - she's a butter corn
CY - was named by my ex. She hatched with one eye and he called her 'Cyclops'
MISSY - I knew before she came that her name was 'Mistletoe' - a good name for a snow stripe corn I thought, but it instantly got changed to 'Missy'
SHILOH - another American sounding biblical name, which means 'gift'

Sorry about the novel
