Posted - 21/01/2012 : 12:48:44 I think its almost time to upgrade Fea's living quarters, he's currently in a 24" faun. I am thinking a vivotec 48" VX for him, I bought a dimmer stat a couple of weeks back so if I go the ceramic bulb route a 200w would be enough to heat that size of viv?
If IR what wattage would be best? As i'm still undecided :) he's in our bedroom, hubby likes dark, but I don't |

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 21:01:40 I use 100 Watt Komodo ceramic heat bulb in my 3 footers and 150 watts in the 6 footer. They are great bulbs they throw down a good hot spot and the bulb itself heats the air. For Boa temperatures required I would say 150 Watts will do the job but you can buy a bigger bulb and the stat will do its job keeping it in check and its always got that extra bit of oomph should it be needed. |

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 15:52:25 I'm like a reptile lol so this house never drops below 72..so maybe a 200W would be best. Thanks for your replies..not quite ready to get the viv but i'm finding all that i'll be needing :) |

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 15:20:28 both dimmer and pulse stats are fine for ceramics, i have both running ceramic bulbs
don't know about ir as i don't use them but i have a 250w in my 4ft viv as our house gets cold in the winter. but if your house is warm 200w should be fine |

Posted - 21/01/2012 : 14:31:23 dont you need a pulse stat for a ceramic bulb ,but yeh 200w would be best option as i have a 150w in a vx 3ft and thats turned right up,since i moved the heat prob directly under ceramic. hot end 32-33 cool end 24-26. |
