Think I may have seen something like it as well on the Darkside

Here what I found
Seems like they have alot of videos about custom back grounds

And it will be unique too, thats the bit I like about making things myself is that nobody else will have one.

That's a great idea and it'll save me a small fortune lol

If I remember you just break the polystyrene into pieces, stick it onto the back and sides in any pattern you desire, add details using a craft knife, stick rope for fake roots, vines etc, you can even use wooden ledges disguised into it too and then cover it in grout and push sand into it, you can paint any details into it with poster paint or something and then varnish over it all to make it water resistant.

I'm currently designing backings for each of my vivs in a style relevant to each of the snakes natural habitat, Spot's is going to look a bit like a side of a old knackered barn, I'm even going to setup a drain pipe hide on it too. keeping the theme of corn snake habitat of farmland. I'm still at the sketching stage though at the moment but it wont be long until I go buy a good few sheets of polystyrene. (PS copywrite drain pipe hide, lol)

Thanks blackskull and you D3L

I dunno, i'm going off the idea LOL

Make your own background, I'm looking into/planning to make some for my vivs using a polystyrene sheets, a tub of grout and a bag of sand, lol. If I could remember where I got the idea from i'd post a link. Does anyone else remember this.

my mistake my vivs are from 15mm boards, you might be better off waiting for the viv to arrive then getting an accurate internal measurement
blackskull Posted - 01/02/2012 : 18:50:57
at 1170mm x 540mm it would be smaller than 2 of the other ones

unless your going to get them to make one for the sizes you want
JanieW Posted - 01/02/2012 : 18:45:08
I think this one would fit..but damned expensive so is it worth it?

the viv measurements will be the overall im guessing so you will need to take off the thickness of the sides to give you an internal width and the thickness off the top and bottom to give you an internal hight. now if the viv you are buying is made out of the same thickness boards as mine it will be 18mm thick giving you

height 654mm
length 1358mm

the back grounds are 600mm square so they will be 54mm short on the height not the 9mm you say. and if you buy 2 then you will be 158mm short on the width.thats if my working out is right lol

if your measurements are the internal sizes then it will be short both on the width and height by another 36mm
Evolution Morphs Posted - 01/02/2012 : 17:58:07
So it's 600mm high and 600 mm long

Won't be long you will be short buy 194mm
Or high enought 90mm short
Is there no longer ones
