I posted earlier in the week asking about the shedding process, well matilda seems to be shedding rather strangly, her eyes are still completely blue and her shed is coming away in tiny little pieces more like dry skin rather than a shed if you know what i mean, is there anything i csn do to make the skin come away better, it is literally flaking off in teeny pieces.

I do spray mine royals every time they shed. When they have blue eyes they don't like anythink but I don't really care. They all shed in one piece and that's most important for me. And to be honest I've seen it on one of SnakeBytes movies. They sprayed snake and all tube. I think it is just personal choice. It's just like a rain in natural environment. It's just mine opinion. |

I sprayed Boris when he was shedding. He didnt seem to mind it. But then he does like laying in his water bowl! |

You are best to not directly spray them, they dont appreciate it. If its particularly dry I will get any blue snakes out and give them a rub down with a damp cloth but if I even accidentally spray my lot, specially my Boa I am usually greeted with an angry display.
If the skin is flaking off already its too late really to hope for a good shed so plan for a horrific shed and the very real possibility you will have to assist.
Upping the humidity is a good idea, dont spray or wet the substrate though, just the sides, and put a wet face cloth over the top of the hides, make sure your waterbowl is large enough for the snake to be able to get in a soak itself and then hope most of the skin comes away when she actually sheds.
if/when any skin is retained, stick her in a damp pillowcase for 20 minutes or so, and stick her back in the vivarium, the remaining bits should come away in the pillowcase. Never pull at it though, it could damage the new skin underneath. But cross that bridge when you come to it, just get the humidity up a good bit until she sheds. |

thats great thanks for the advise, her eyes dont seem so blue today so i guess thats things gettin underway, will post photos

From my records it looks like every time they get blue eyes it takes exactly 5 days till they shed. Give her a spray with water and leave her alone for another 2 or 3 days. Don't forget to keep humidity on a bit higher level. She will be fine. |

OK, if the eyes are still blue the skin shouldn't be coming away yet. Could you post a picture as in focus as possible. |
