For the last two weeks CC hasn't eaten.
I do not know why.
About 3 weeks ago he ate a small-ish rat, he ate it, tried to feed him a second one, he tried to eat it but couldn't eat it correctly (he tried to eat it very awkwardly).
Since then he hasn't eaten. He isn't going to shed anytime soon, we cleaned him and his viv out yesterday so it and he were all clean so he would eat (just in case it was a problem with mites etc.)
He's not even giving his food a sniff! He doesn't seem to be interested at all, which worries me.
What could be wrong?

matilda is doin this now too, its a real worry eh?
i know in my head that it is normal behaviour for a royal but in ma heart i feel she should be eating,
up until her last few feedings she has been a wonderful eater never missin a meal, and now nope she buggers off in the other direction, dont get me wrong she shows a bit of interest tongue flicking and head bobbing etc but then turns around and sods off lol, or heads straight for the exit from the rub lol, im sure she is fine really but its a real worry,
i feel you pain as do many MANY other lol xxx

Mine have been off for a couple of months now. Annoying, isn't it!

Just royal behavior my friend :) Get used to it because you've got another 20-30 years of it lol

no its just royals being royals, just offer every week an he might surprise you with the odd feed here an there during the fast

Thank you for your reassurances, in my head I keep thinking "oh he hates it here, he's trying to starve himself 2 death!"
chrisc Posted - 24/10/2012 : 05:30:34
the little one i had fasted in his first year and was about the same weight.
he would drop nearly 10% of his weight but would then take a feed then fast an lose the same again.
i was weighing him weekly an his weight went up an down quite a lot think in 5 or 6 months he only took 4 feeds

As said above do not worry till 10-15% of weight lost
Captain_Cuddles Posted - 24/10/2012 : 00:34:19
He has pooped a few times since eating that rat... :(
ppl_clectr Posted - 23/10/2012 : 22:06:31
He ate a rat you said, but not a second? He's likely fine. It's only 2 weeks. Try again after he poops next time.

he is about 10/12 months old. he weighs about 300g.
I hope he is fasting, cus its worrying otherwise.
Danno91 Posted - 23/10/2012 : 19:56:30
What weight is he, I wouldn't worry just yet royals fast often and can be for 6 months to a year
chrisc Posted - 23/10/2012 : 19:56:25
how old an what weight is he?
probably starting the breeding season fast just keep a record of his weight long as they dont lose more than 10-15% of their bodyweight you dont need to worry
