i have just been watching my royal python in his tank and i noticed that one of his eyes looks as tho there is an indentation in it. he has always had eyes that really stickout and stare but now one of them is pushed in in the middle has anyone else had this problem, please advise |

The eyecap is the eyeballs shield really, its there to take any knocks, bumps, scrapes or scratches that come its way so its not unheard of for the eyecap to suffer minor damage. That said it can also be a sign of a shed on its way, check the belly, if its looking a bit pink then its more than likely that. It can be a sign of dehydration but a snake that is eating and healthy would find it almost impossible to dehydrate. As yours aren't though then its an idea to check. The quickest and more accurate way to test for dehydration is to gently pinch the skin immediately behind the head (just to the side of the spine is easiest) where the skin is quite stretchy and your fingers will bring it up to a point, then you just let go, if its dehydrated the skin will not spring back quickly as it would if the snake was hydrated. |

Could be a little bit of dehydration , sometimes a soak in a damp pillow case can help :) |
