Hi all,

I noticed today my 7 month royal seems to have some dry flaky skin apeared on his nose that wasnt there last night, he hasnt shed since i bought him (about 6-7 weeks ago). his eyes havent blued over or anything to suggest hes shedding.

anything to be concerned about?
is it normal for them to go this long without shedding? or if this flaking is due to him shedding is it normal for them to shed without the eyes going blue first?

humidity 55-60
hot end at 32c

thanks

Yeah on hot end hide. Just lay the wet flannel over the top of it n re soak every day. N spray a few mist elsewhere in the tank. To help shed

ah right, yes its my first snake. so i shouldnt actually put the flannel in his hide? the hide on both ends is one of those exo terra caves, i should just litterally cover the hide with it

You might have missed his eyes being cloudy. It can sometimes be difficult to spot, especially if this is your first snake.
I use a damp flannel too. It's just as good as moss and costs less! Just lay it on the hide in the warm end. Move his water to the wram end too and spray the viv a couple of times a day. That will really up the humidity and aid the shedding process.

Flannel will hold the moisture more than kitchen roll. I only use a flannel when in shed. And so do a few others. A d yeah could be a sign. Mine usually goes real dull n flakey then one day hell be shiny new :)

Yea ive sprayed some kitchen roll and put it in a hide for him until i go shop tomorrow and pick up some moss as ive read that that is the best thing for them? Can this be a sign they are going into shed before the eyes going blue then?

May find he's die to shed now. Mine shed when I got him end of November beginning December and has only just re shed again. So quite normal. Just keep humidity up. Put wet flannel over his hide n keep spraying a most to keep it up. Should help him out
