Posted - 02/07/2009 : 16:55:13 ok was wondering the above... as when i got madam first few hours of her being in faun she seemed to be doing what was yawning.. now have mentioned it to a friend he reckons it sounds like starting of RI.... should i take her to vets or is it a case of just being paranoid after what matey said... gonna feed her tongiht n see how she is.. |

Posted - 03/07/2009 : 17:17:00 My boy yawns sometimes, apparently just for the sake of it :S but then he starts exploring around after just being curious and I haven't noticed anything strange either. I think it's normal, unless of course you also start seeing mucus and hearing wheezy sounds etc. |

Posted - 03/07/2009 : 11:32:55 ok well in relation to original question about the yawning/gasping.. have asked a friend whose had snakes for yrs.. he says tht is normal royal behaviour and not to be worried.. so ill just carry on as im doing now. but have found a local rep vet so got there number incase anything changes |

Might have a word with steve and ask him.
A 2 foot viv is way to big for a hatchling,
she could well be stressed, i dont know, i have my baby in a rub and i have not seen her since i put her in there yesterday morning, but i know she has been out cos her tube has moved...
to be honest if she is active then rather than a 2 foot viv i might consider a rub, but if she has fed..then she may just be an active snake, hard to tell..
i would not worry to much about humidity, room humidity is fine...
and a moss box helps to if they need moisture they can go lay in it... |

Posted - 02/07/2009 : 20:12:31 did you hold her before or after you fed her?
did she yawn after eating?
if so she was probably re aligning her jaws as Cat has said..
whatever you do dont use Nine lives vets at Redbourne... |

Posted - 02/07/2009 : 20:02:17 she has eaten tonight and holding her was so cool.. me mum got a photo session in...ffs... so she wolfed down a fluff .. but since mate said poss start of ri. i have contacted two vets one in watford and radlett just for advice but will be taking all three of em to local one in watford. to get check ups and poss sexing |

Posted - 02/07/2009 : 17:02:21 i dont know if they yawn in the traditional sleepy sense, or of yawning in relation to an RI, but they DO yawn to realign their jaws, usually after feeding. :p |
