Posted - 25/06/2010 : 22:47:09 been on here before about this problem but still aint fond a solution. my snake has now outgrown mice but he wont touch rats. do i try him on rat pinkies too get him started on them, try him on multi's for a couple of weeks as ive heard there like a cross between mouse and rat, or just keep feeding him mice, 2 at a time. he eats mice fine, but when i last tried him on rats, he wouldn't touch them for about 3 months so i just feed him mice again which he ate no problem. any help please? |

Posted - 21/07/2010 : 14:46:42 going off at a slight tangent, i've got a CB blood python that's just as fussy at times - he will only eat black/black * white rats ; if i offer a pure white he won't touch it?! I've heard this can be true with royals as well, so maybe try offering different coloured rats to yours? hope this helps :) |

Posted - 12/07/2010 : 21:25:48 i have just managed to switch sheba to rats and in prep i bought some small mice, defrosted the mouse and rat together by putting them in an airtight container and allowing to thaw at room temp. I warmed it up as normal (leaving in fairly hot water for a couple of mins and just damping dry, sheba likes hers wet!) I did that for the first 3 times with no probs and on hodgies advice, just thawed a rat on its own this time, she struck with no probs, dunno if that will help but it worked for me. :)

Posted - 26/06/2010 : 08:31:42 A Multi is a type of rat, so yes, you may be able to use it as an intermediate.
Have you tried following a mouse with a rat? |
