my local shop finally got some big food items in so got giblet a rooster to eat instead of multiple large rats.
huge meal an took him 3 1/2 hours to get it down, not looking forward to whats going to come out the other end haha

he came flying out the viv before i had chance to get it through the door

gently moved him back into the viv once he had started eating

half way down, still amazes me how much they can stretch themselves to eat a big meal

the lump this morning an one fat happy burm

Giblet is looking great. We're going to have to rind bigger meals for some of ours. Rats just don't come big enough for some.

Nice pics chris, looks like he really enjoyed that.

It was a little large but managed ok so will just give him a bit longer before the next feed.
With boas i feed something as thick as their thickest part an that leaves a nice lump.
Weekly when young then fortnightly ish when adult.
My boa william is around 7ft and gets an xl rat or 2 small rats every 2 weeks ish but sometimes i offer a smaller or lager meal
Alves76 Posted - 10/11/2014 : 08:19:31
thanks for that Chris. Do you know what the rule is for boas?
TaxMonkey Posted - 09/11/2014 : 07:40:19
wow 3 1/2 hours! Were you concerned it was too big at any point?
chrisc Posted - 08/11/2014 : 17:37:02
Yes different with burms, retics, afrocks ect as their much bigger snakes something the same with as their widest part isnt quite enough.
With much bigger meals you have a longer time between feeds, this will do giblet for 2-3 weeks ish

Fantastic. Great photos. Tell me, since we feed the royals a food item that is no more than the snake's bodywidth, is that rule different for burms? Just curious.
