hey guys, I have started making reptile things using polystyrene, grout and varnish but the layer of varnish at the front can be dangerous to aquatic animals. (I don't know if this includes reptiles) but will it be ok if I then add some Reptile-safe varnish over the top in 48 hours or so?

AT the front of what?

Not heard of reptile safe varnish either. Varnish in liquid form is harmful to all life not just aquatic life, I ended up higher than a space man varnishing my vivarium.

If its is waterproof and dry then it will be fine. I used ronseal diamond hard clear waterproof varnish, once dry its solid and waterproof.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001GU8A50/ref=asc_df_B001GU8A508667203?smid=A3G8I6ZF6N4A8R&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B001GU8A50

its cheap enough Google "good varnish for reptile hides" comes up with people asking the same kinda thing.

I noticed that no one has posted any help with this and i don't have the answer myself. On you Tube there is someone called Becky Wheeler who makes a lot of vivarium set ups for reptiles and I am sure a PM to her may give you the answers that yoou need. The link below is to one of her clips to get you on your way......
