Sorry for being a thread hog but I had to post this.
I've just got off the phone after talking to the local council about DWA Licencing. The guy put me on hold and spoke to the licencing department. When he came back he asked me what the name of the pet shop was going to be to which I repeated, again, that it wasn't for a shop but for a private collection. Off he went again to talk to the licencing people. When he returned again he said, and I quote, "You only need a licence if it's a commercial premises. If it's a private collection you don't need one" . I tried to correct him on that fact but he said that what he'd said was council policy.
Thinking back, I wish I'd asked for that to be sent to me in writing now. Could save myself a fortune in a few years .
I spoke to my local council and I would have to pay £725 plus inspectors fees and modifications despite the council website advertising it as £125 I quote "In error". I think someone is taking me for a ride. I never thought of contacting a zoo so cheers for the advice!! I've been to Marwell zoo before and all I remeber was a camel that seriously wanted to spit on me so I i will use that as a last resort!!
Hi - I used to live in Reigate, not far from you and when I was there I shopped at the reptile department in Wyevale Garden Centre in Crawley. Not sure if its still there, but worth giving them a bell to find out? It used to be pretty good - they had iguanas roaming around the shop when I used to go!
