I;m getting a royal python in next 10 days or so and as soon as my set up is complete

the footprint of the tank is 36x12

at the pet shop there were different shapes and sizes... but what size should i get for a tank this size for a royal python?

cheers simon

If you have a wooden viv it's best to use a infrared lamp or a ceramic heater,if you do go for a mat you need one to cover one third to half the viv

you might want to start it off in something smaller like a 18L RUB or really pack out the viv.

That's what I would do, an 18L RUB for a few months.

Royals do better with ceramics (air heat) not mats, I tend to swap them over to ceramics when they get around 700g.

ceramics are non light emiting heat lamps, the set up can be expensive but are very good. You will need a pulse/dimming stat, ceramic bulb and fittings, cable plus a guard to cover it as they get very hot
