Well to add to the insult of a potentially bad shed we have just discovered tonight that matilda also has mites!!!!! so have spent the last 4 hours stripping her viv, steam cleaning the entire inside and out, cleaning all her hides etc, steamed her decor which is now spinning roond in the tumble drier on high after being washed and steamed, poor matilda had just eaten a mouse when i noticed so she was popped in a shallow bath (in a rub) with some olive oil in it and tomorrow we shall get the spray, i think thats it, so she is now huffing in her paper towel lined viv with no decor and only a waterdish and hide poor wee soul, however at least she sisnt give me back her mouse, im lucky she seems to be a super chilled snake, nothing seems to phase her xxx

Oh no, I was actually a bit worried about this when you said her skin was coming away, mites damage the skin quite a bit and it really shows during sheds. luckily its not the end of the world you've done the right thing, any reptile shop worth its salt should have Callingtons in stock, its the best stuff by common agreement. There are other products available but you really want to hit this with the nuclear bomb of mite sprays. |

well, we have given matilda another bath this morning and put some mite treatment on her, there was no sign of mite activity in her viv and nothing to see on her (i inspected her thouroly) i feel so sad for her poor wee scone, daft i know but she is my baby and i really do love her its nuts how attached you become to these creatures but she really is very affectionate, well i think so anyway, she is very settled with me and just cozies up n goes to sleep once she is done exploring me lol, hopefully we have nipped the mites in the preverbial butt!!!!! horrible little buggers that they are xx

haha oh yeah, snake mite, how unfortunate, lol.
If you hit an infestation in its early stages it should be a quick process for getting rid, as long as you treat the area around the snake in whatever room its in as they have a tendency to wander off. |
