Just wondered if anyone out there knows of any good, realiable, and relatively cheap courier service for snake transportation (as I dont drive). Saw a nice female python for sale in Scotland, reasonably cheap for a female python (normal) but they reckon its £70 to transport to South Wales. Seems stupid paying more on transportation than on the snake itself!

I doubt you'll find a proper reptile courier for less than about £50, especially from Scotland to Wales. It'd cost about that on fuel alone.

Your other options would be to have the seller send it via TNT on the back of a truck with no heat overnight, being bounced and thrown around. Then hope when you open the box she's still alive. I've tried both types of delivery, the one that was couriered arrived warm, in a cleaned little tub and fed just a few days later. The stuff arrived via TNT were deep in tauper, took two hours to warm up and didn't feed for nearly two months! I know what I'll be spending the extra on in future

Or I'm sure that there would be a normal come up for sale closer to you sooner or later, even if it is a little more expensive, you'll save on the delivery

Scotland to Wales is a long way. £70 to courier it is a damn good deal, I wouldn't do it for less than £100 so I actually made some money out of the run. A proper courier has to pay liability insurance, business vehicle insurance and be approved by DEFRA to carry live animals, they have to then fuel the vehicle and on top of all those expenses once the job is done drive home. If they can do that and still make a bit of pocket money for less than £70 then they have cut a corner somewhere.

Hmmm........never thought of it like that! Unfortunately not that many reptile shops near home, and I dont drive, so if I see anything really attractive and affordable it usually involves transportation costs. Local reptile shop is quite limited in stock
