I've just came back from late shift and checked on my two royals. Female pastel has poo'd in two both end of her RUB one was rather slimey looking and the other had a mouse tail in it as though she's struggling to digest her food? She's poo'd a few times since I've had her with no problems at all. What could this be? quite worried...

now and then you will get some fur come out with their poo so dont think its would be impossible for a tail to come out

It is impossible for a tail to make its way through the digestive system, the only stuff that is undigestable is fur, teeth and claws, the rest is broken down. If it was without doubt a tail then it has to be regurgitated (puke). if you aren't sure then it might be a good idea to treat it as a regurge anyway, it wont do any harm. Unfortunately this is a full check of temperatures, hides, snake weight to food weight (food should be 10-15% of snake weight), you then leave the snake completely alone for 2 weeks, no handling or feeding, just clean water daily.

I have never seen anything even slightly resembling a rodent come out of my Royal.

Did it smell bad?

it smelled really bad, as though something had died! temps are fine, 32c in warm end, 25c cool end, hide at each end and she has been using both, plastic plants for cover and nice size water bowl. nothing has changed at all :\ hmm slightly more worried now.. do you think a trip to the vet would be a good idea?

I wouldn't think a vet is required at this stage but if it smelled something shocking its highly likely to be regurge. Is this the first time you've found something that smelled really bad?

At this stage just give it 2 weeks of no food, handling and as much as possible don't disturb the snake at all other than changing the water daily. Their stomachs have a lot of stuff in there that helps them digest food, when they regurge this 'stuff' is thrown out of balance so it takes a little while to sort itself out. " weeks should be enough. When you start feeding again start with something much smaller than normal, and work back up slowly to a more appropriately sized prey item.

If this doesn't work then I would consider a trip to the vets just to be sure everything is OK internally and its not got an obstruction or something like that. But for now it probably just needs time to settle the stomach and working back up to proper food sizes again.

Yes this is the first time I've seen this, she poo's regularly and has always been normal. Hopefully she'll settle again. Thanks for the advice, I'll wait a couple weeks and try her with a little mouse and go from there.
She seems to be fine in herself she's still out on a night and hiding/sleeping through the day, I've seen her drink tonight too.

I'll leave her be for a couple weeks. Thanks again for the advice
