I can hear mice in the walls sometimes and have caught them in one of the draws in the kitchen (don't worry, no food in there), but I never got the urge to kill them : /

If your really bothered buy them then you could get a rat repeller. My stepdad has one for the back of his shop and he has never had a problem with rats, mice, foxes etc. It's a really high pitched noise that they can't stand. It drives them away. But you can't hear anything.
...Now if you have dogs that might not be a good idea. I'm sure they would be able to hear it.

That's all I can think of right now that would work long term.

I wonder if you can get sprays that smell of Snakes or other preditors? That might drive them away pretty quick too!

Just me and my zoo.

Those pest repellent things drive me mad. I can hear the dam things. They will be looking a good spot to hibernate, unless they are causing damage I'd leave them to it, they'll go back out in the spring

We get the occasional mouse even with those ultrasonic thingies. We tried the trap door devices to catch and release but never caught one. Just leave them to it now. They only seem to visit in passing and don't stay. Maybe we only have one star on the mousey gourmet guide.

Going by what @bluedragon said, it might be worth collecting any wee soiled bedding from your viv and putting it outside your door, it might scare them off, but probably not lol

When I was in my second year at uni we lived in a really grotty house. One day we saw a mouse run out from under the sofa and under the oven. The following day, (and before we could afford to buy any traps) we were all sat on the sofa and the mouse walked out into the middle of the room, rolled onto its back and died!!! Poor thing couldnt survive the disgusting conditions at student accomodation.

We had a mouse problem some time ago, beleive it or not mice and rats hate peppermint . If you get peppermint essential oil add it to water with chilli and boil it for a while then let it cool and use this as a spray they wont be back.
