during the fast:
normal female stopped regular feeding 13-7-12 and has since lost 100grams,
bumblebee male stopped regular feeding 20-7-12 and has lost the same amount of weight.

is it time to start worrying now or am i just letting it get to me? all the others are eating as normal.

unless they lose more than 15% of their bodyweight you dont need to worry, 100g in 3 months does seem quite a bit though

you havent had any mats in the rack go have you?
if they lose 15% then try them on a mouse/chick or something may alos be worth a stool sample just to check theres nothing going on there.
it their body shape/form still looking fine?

Like GMac, I would like to know the starting weight? For a 1800 gram snake to to lose 100 grams is much less worrisome than a 500 gram snake losing 100 grams.

the bee was just shy of 900g, the normal girl was at 1250g. both still look healthy (tho the normal has gone into blue now) just a bit smaller, noticably so with the bee. the rack is running on heat cable and the temps are still good... just feels hella long time since i saw them eat! the fire is still smashing them down tho so i guess thats one i dont have to worry about!

Have they during this fast emitted any of their dark brown matter? Duke can lose about 100 Grams no problems when he toilets. Though saying that he has been fasting for pretty much the same amount of time which is a few months earlier than last time and has lost absolutely nothing. He has just entered the out all the time fidgety snake stage so hopefully this fast will be over soon enough. Long story short are they acting normally?

yeah, they're both fully emtied now. did quite a big one each about a week or two ago. they are both a little more active, the bee espacially. when it comes to feeding time he actually goes round the rat and tries to climb out the rub to explore. he's also had a bit more of a wobble recently. is the activeness a sign that fasting is coming to an end then? this is the first time they've gone this long, last season it was only 5 weeks.

I found last year that Duke fasted for 4 months, the last month of which he was climbing the walls, quite literally out and roaming all the time, once he settled down again he started feeding. Not a sure fire rule but seems to be following a similar pattern again this year. Duke was the 18th June he took his last feed apart from a cheeky little one he took in September. I am only offering him once a month, once he takes one I'll try switching back to fortnightly but until then I'm saving money and Duke is fine so not worried.

Because they have recently voided themselves Its likely a lot of the weight loss was that. I would weigh them now and see what rate they are losing weight from this point, give it two weeks and weigh them again and you'll soon know.
