| I have noticed quite a few morphs sold as CF, the more uncommon ones. If CF how can the seller know its a true speciman of the type described? |

| If they are visual morphs then they probably just know what the morph is by looking at them when they hatch but they won't know if any of them have hets or anything like that. Or if they look like they could be a morph might jusyt say it is so can make more money from it |

| If it is from a reputable breeder should be ok but I'd probably go and see it so you can see that it is definately the morph they are saying it is or at least get a photo |

Actually its one of the top online reptile sales sites, specialising in various morphs. I doubt they'd get away with selling a normal when a CF albino had been paid for :)
The base morphs are surely found in the wild? |

| Yeah I'd guess all the base morphs would of been either wc and cf. Weird when you think about all different morphs going round africa in the wild lol |

Well I've never seen CF morphs for sale
If they look diffrent then there's a new line/genetic type of a ball/royal python
and will most prob get shipped to a big breeder in the US To prove out

from my understanding
CB - captive bred - gene line can be shown/proven (you know what the parents are)
CF - captive farmed - large scale breeding, morphs are visual but not necessarily proven (as in the case of hets)
WC - wild caught - says it all really lol |

I was amazed to read how some of the best known U.S breeders have a wild caught in their gene pool. Wasn't it morten that has his best sire stolen in 2005 along with 50 other reptiles?
It was wild caught and passed the genetic trait to his offspring.
The thing is with morphs you always get approx a 25% chance of breeding normals and am I wrong in thinking most hets only produce visual if paired with visual?

| Oh and Del its Triple 8 that are selling CF Royals, and I know they are one of the best online stores for quality and after sales..they could be sued for 1000;s if they pulled that stunt. |

hets x visual will produce a visual when playing the law of averages.
what I was trying to say in my previous post is saying something is morph 'X' by looking at it is quite hard...look up banded and reduced pattern morphs, they look exactly the same but genetics are different and so are the dominance of the gene |

Damn Boa, Wynny..she's periscoped up hard againty the glass..wanting out but its almost midnight..her viv is directly opposite and i'm too sleepy to have her cuddling tonight lol
I get get that Andy thanks, but for an example..if you bred x single gene morph to a normal, wouldn't you only get normals or an x morph? |

Yeah I know Del, quite a few I reckon..really unless you are buying a snake with a certificate there's no way of knowing for sure, is there :)
I know this isn't really the correct thread Del, but what line are you concentrating breeding?
I would really like to add a Spider female at some point, I like the morphs that they can produce. |
