After spending 2 weeks getting rid of mites in my royals tank a few weeks ago. Making sure there was none in there so I could put everything back.

My royal now has mites again. And so has my boa tank now :-(

I best get stripping out my boas 4 foot tank and also my royals 3 foot tank. Just hope the bearded hasn't got them too.

Very frustrating day.

Snake mites affect snakes and only snakes. Your beardie might have them in the vivarium but they won't feed from it.

Just thought I would mention as I have had to do extensive research on these little critters the most common mite Snake mites, Ophionyssus natricis, only feed on reptiles, preferably snakes, but lizards can be on the menu if that's all they have. So better be safe than sorry just might be any idea to check the beardies viv, however the conditions in its enclosure are not favourable for these mites.

Thanks for the research. Much appreciated. And as the beardie tank is next to the royal then best for me to check it out.

I read about that in practical rep mag a few months back. Never had mites before myself, but isnt it a biological control. Basically a pesticide that targets the mites. Could be worth a try.

Guys can I ask a silly question? Why do they get mites? If they have not been in contact with other reptiles with mites. My snakes never had them. So I am a little unsure of them.

Male standard royal: Dexter
Female Mötley corn: Teal
Dalmatian crested gecko: Nobby.
1 son: Kieran
2 Daughters: Tamzin & Teagan.
And wish to own a bumblebee royal.
