Ok this may sound crazy but can snakes sense different hormones?

My Mrs is pregnant, my royal has been on fast for the past few months and won't even strike. I was holding him just now and she walked by and he struck towards her hand! He's never struck at anyone! Seems very strange and the only explination I can think of is maybe he can sense the hormones

i would say they probably can sense hormones iguana's can and are known to get arsey/aggressive towards women during that of the month and snake's have a more acute sense of smell/taste

Their sense of smell is extremely sensitive but I doubt this was pregnancy related. Move to quickly towards a Royals head and it's heat pits pick up the heat heading straight for them and they nearly always respond. Strike or recoil in horror, I've had both.
