you dont need any light in a viv...they are for our benefit only. The amount of day light coming in through the window is plently. Like you say Anne they live in burrows and are nocturnal aso dont require light. |

but if there is no light, i,e if its covered would they not think its just a really long night?
and again. 5 or 7 days, and what should i do about ventilation whilst its covered, surely it wont let much in or out?

when your royal is feeding and everything then he will get natural light in his viv, but for now you want to create this environment to give him security..
as for air, does the rub you have got not have any air holes in it? if you make some in this you will be ok..

did you really just try a feed?
it has not been five days since the last one has it?
and where did you feed him? in his viv or the rub? |

Small marge tubs or old cereal boxes cut down can make good hides too. |

i just wiggled a defrosted warm fuzzies yes, then left it in the viv for 10 mins, the snake kept moving about as normal as if it wasnt even there. its now covered up in the rub, in the glass tank, half on the heatmat half off. il check the water on wednesday and top up or change it. should i change the paper if its wet? then do i try friday or sunday? do i just put the defrost in and cover it back up?
iv put 2 tubes in as advised earlier, do i change them or leave them? |

I FEEL HORRIBLE NOW!! i just went to the rub to check the water. as i lifted the cover it was sat with its head half way up the side, as soon as i opened the top, one side only, it shot out. i stopped it with my finger and it hasnt struggled and fought like that since iv had it, i thought it was going to strike as i was trying the get it to keep its head in. i just topped up the water and closed it, then its banging its nose on the lid. im really not happy with this. is it the only way to do it??

if you feel this is to much for you, then maybe you should consider rehoming him, harsh as it sounds, your stressing and your snake is stressing..
you have to be calm and patient and hope this turns around..
