10-12 days ... sometimes fourteen and sometimes every 7 days. I like to vary it like they would in the wild!
Plus im also just about to go up a size with my 07 as small rats just arent filling him up |

| He is on small rats. When i got him he was supposed to eat medium rats but he wouldnt eat them, seemed scared of them so i downsized to small rats for a couple of feeds and he was bang on it no problem. Tried a medium again and he refused. |

<400g every 5 days 400-800g every 7 days 800-1200g every 10 days >1200g every 14 days.
Just as a guide for myself, not set in stone. |

Oh and Scamps is an April 09 and weighs 120grams and i saw two of his hatcling mates today (in the shop i brought him from) and they were tiny little things compared to him but im sure they arent being fed routinly every five days (cant blame the shop, they have a lot of animals to get through so fed between 5-7 days!)
I think Scamps is on track to be a bigger chap than Obran to be honest! |

I suppose it depends what you call a Med Rat, go into 3 different shops and you'll get 3 different sizes. 10-15% of the snake's body weight is a good target. |

Will have to take my scales with me when i next go snake food shopping. I've got a little digi set that i can use. Thanks for the tip
Agreed, a medium rat seems too big to be honest but im gona have a sort though the freezer (perfect excuse in this heat, sod the rats, the are dead after all, lol)when i next go on Thursday. Have a medium mouse for Scamps tomorrow. Obran can wait |

i have had limited success with Kazz...i dont currently have access to fresh killed, but i have so far managed 2 feeds on defrost..but not consecutive..
held them by the back with the tongs and made them dance like a rat..lol..but she is wise to the fact they are not real in the sense..no heartbeat...
you might succeed though, cos fresh kill are still warm so it might be easier.. |

I was always banging on about feeding Obran with warmed through (in a bag in hot water) food which had been blowdried with the hairdryer blah blah blah .... at the moment he couldnt care less and just eats anything put infront of him ... ok i will stop showing off now but seriously, perhaps a google search on what body temps rodents get in stressful situations (clearly hotter is better for your royals feeding response!)
Although defrosted a really 'hot' meal might entice it or maybe a pre killed (rather you than me to be brutally honest) |

well i dont really fancy having any of mine on full grown rats..there teeth are mean..
if i have to i have to, but i would worry about damage..
Kazz had a weaner in the week and though it was small it still had big gnashers and i had to watch it all just in case..
bloody thing took a while to go as well... |

| I feed Sabine once every two weeks, she just isn't intrested in food any earlier. Then again, she's 1.6kg and 43" long, so I class her as an adult now (assumed 07 but no idea really) |
