Hi i have just purchased my first royal after my beardie decided to give up it's life R.I.P., so i convinced my girlfriend to allow me to have a snake so a royal fitted the bill the best because it was the most docile and the best temperament with having 3 children which love it to bits. I gave it the first feed today and went really well, not sure on sex as yet but will find out in 6 months or so. I am really happy with my royal, so any info and general talk about them would be appreciated. |

Cheers everyone for making me feel welcome, just want to know what is the best temperature is, i have a red heat bulb with a cage and is on a thermostat at one end with a hide underneath it, then a heat mat at the other end for at night time which comes on 1hr before the heat bulb goes off, it also has a hide at that end, the temperature is at 88f in the middle, is this ok? |

you are wanting around 32c in hot end and 27c in cold end, i would change the red heat bulb for a ceramic and get rid of the heat mat at other end, you dont need 2 warm ends, you need to keep an eye on the humidity as well, how big is the viv and snake? |

Welcome You only need heat at one end, then the water bowl goes at the other then your humidity should be correct.
