As above, I understand that royyals need rats due to the size that they will eat when grown on, but why are corns fed on mice, when perhaps they could manage perhaps weaners when big enough?
Is it down to the prey they would be finding/eating in the wild?

Just curious.

As you say, Corns could manage Weaners when larger, however, Rat Weaners are still immature and hence quite fatty (as with the young of any mammal), whereas an adult mouse will be pretty similar nutritionally but much less fatty.

the fat content is to high for corns, leave them on rats and they will get fat...

thats what i was told anyways...

My corn feeds on rat pups as she won't take fluffies !! but she is fine on that diet, at the moment I am feeding my royal on small mice but I am sure she will take larger mice and rats when she is big enough and won't mind the transition and will perhaps enjoy the change of diet :)

Rat Pups are very fatty so just bear that in mind and also be careful that your Royal doesn't become 'addicted' to mice or you'll have trouble!
