hi everyone! i got my baby royal python just under a week ago, and i'm so pleased :) but as i haven't owned snakes in about 10 years, i need a refresh on some things. hoping someone could help...
kuri seems very happy in her RUB as she is only about 3 months i'd say. and the temperature seems fine. she looks very comfortable.
but i'd like to know, is it bet to feed her outside the RUB? as i put a rat pup in last saturday (2 days ago), and put it on top of her hide, as not get it covered in aspen. but the next day she still hadn't eaten, and in fact, had knocked it off into the aspen. so i removed it, didnt want her to get a omuthful of aspen too.
unfortunately the shop i got her from didnt know when she had been fed last. so i'm not sure if she's just not hungry, or it's any other reason?
opinions from people that know a bit more about this than me, would be great :) thankyou x |

If she's not strike feeding yet you could replace the aspen in the RUB with kitchen towel.
It is advised not to try handling or feeding for at least a week after moving into a new home to give them time to settle in.

Ooops I have already handled her a couple of times. But not for very long, literally just got her out on my bed for about 10 minutes. I put another rat pup in yesterday and she's still not interested. And by strike feeding, do you mean when you hold it with the tongs? Because I havent tried that yet either.
Thanks :) |
