Hi, I have had a few snakes before but I have only just found this forum and decided to join. My newest snake is a Royal Python (hence joining the forum), and she is 9 weeks old on wednesday, and is eating 2 mice fuzzies a week. She is about 13 inches long and is adorable. I will post a few pictures on here soon I hope.

i did try her on a larger prey size, but she wouldnt take it. I know that the prey meant to be around the same thickness as the thickest part of the snake, and the mice fuzzies are about that size.
for a royal she is a small snake. maybe in a couple of weeks i will try her on a larger mouse again, but until then she seems quite content at the moment.
cant wait till she gets on rats later on in life, they very nutritious, yummy |

Hi and welcome...
I would try switching to rats sooner rather than later...sometimes it take a while for them to take them. |

suppose so... im guessing i would start with rat pinkies because, there is no way a rat the next size up is going to get into my snakes belly shes a diddy little thing, dont want her to choke or have difficulties getting a bigger food source down her |

A hatchling royal can take either a small mouse or a rat pup straight away...you would be suprised at what they can eat... |

Yes that sounds ok. Although rat pups come in varying sizes, I personally get rat pups at 20g's but have had some very small ones in the past. I always ask them for the biggest ones. |

well i am going to weigh pandora (snake's name), tomorrow then i will be able to tell what weight to get the food. problem is the pet shop i get food from, dont weigh them and are not really sure themselves on the weight of the food. So i dont want to buy the food to find it not big enough. and they dont do refunds on frozen food. maybe i should buy some weigh them and if they under i know then the get the next size up next time i go to get food |

Just look for the biggest ones, about the size of a mouse. Dont worry its all trial and error with prey sizes. I go to different place for different things sometimes. |
