Sid was in a 9l rub and feeding well and growing like mad.
We have moved him to a larger rub as we are saving for a viv.
He has feed twice and shed once since being in the larger rub.
Temperature at hot end is between 86-90 and cool end remains steady at 70.
We've added extra hids and stuff to bulk up the viv so ther's no too much new space around.
However, he is now refusing to feed, not even a strike. He'll come right up to the weaner rat and sniff it but then shy's away.
It's been 5 weeks now and we try him every week.
I know that this can be a common royal issue but I just wnated to check with you guys if there's anything else I should try or something I'm not doing right.
Look forward to all your suggestions.

Don't worry Tony, just keep trying once a week (no more often) and if he refuses, weigh him. Its only an issue if they lose condition and significant weight. If you haven't changed anything since he last ate then he will eat again in his own time.
Just to put it in perspective, I have 1 that has yet to eat this year but has barely lost any weight, you have to remember that they are not mammals and this is how they are designed to live  |

| as above i have two that haven't really eaten this year but are fine. would i would suggest though is uping your temps. 70f is really to cool for the cool end. you want to be over 75,. It may be just to cool to eat. temps drop in the winter for royals in wild and this is when then normally fast as they need the heat to aid with digestion. at the minute your cool end is below what temps would be droped in reality. if you can crank up your stat and try and get your temps going from 80 and cool to 90 at warm, it may help..good luck |

| I have not logged on for months but so glad I did. Harriet has not eaten for 4 weeks and I have been panicking as not really like her but looks like could just be normal behaviour from what you have all said. I will check temps and weigh her from now on to check all ok. Had her almost a year now and best pet I ever had - well apart from my black lab Jack! |

| My Lemon pastel hasn'teaten sinceshe was re-housed in her new viv 6 weeks ago, the other two that I re-housed went 3 and 4 weeks respectively and are now eating regularly again we just have to wait for them and not worry too much so long as they are healthy and not losing too much weight don't lose too much sleep they will eat again when they are ready :) |

| Hi - have a silly question. What do you do with the food that is rejected? We have been burying it in the garden but foxes dig up and leave lying around and we have grandchildren so not good - any ideas apreciated. |
