HI peeps.
Finally after owning 3 Corn snakes and a Tarantula I thought its time for a python. I bought my first Royal on Friday, its a 2010. Will post pics, as soon as the hands off time is over this Friday. Ive been reading this Forum "almost" cover to cover for info on the Royals and found loads of useful tips, but one thing I realised, they are picky eaters (or till you get them started lol.) And are Royals more prone to disease/infection than Corn snakes?
Glad to see some people from TCS are also on here :) Cheers CoN |

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Royals may be more sensitive to humidity/heat than Corns, but otherwise they are fairly similar.
I wouldn't say they are picky, they do however behave as they would in the wild and fast for periods, its only a problem if you let it upset you. Try to remember that this is how nature designed them to function and that they aren't mammals that feed regularly. You see a lot of 'My Royal hasn't eaten' threads, but very few 'My Royal has starved' threads. |

Hi and welcome to the forum. hope you enjoy it here any questions ask and some one will answer. as BE said yeah royals are not so much picky but may fast from time to time and its how you cope with that that is the issue not the snake fast. if it does start a fast just keep a monitor of its weight to make sure that it is not losing too much. ( weight lose may be a sign of illness rather than a fast) i have had a good start to the month so far where 2 of my royals starting eating again after fasting for over 6months. |
