I've had my little man about 6 weeks now, he's fed the last four times no problem. But, what I don't know is when he's likely to shed or poo. |

Shedding probably every couple of months or so if young and pooing every 4 to 6 weeks is quite normal. |

as above. no need to worry and if he is on hairless prey at the min there is very little waste to pass. |

Thanks guys. Wasn't too worried about the shedding, but six weeks and no poo was starting to concern me a bit. He's been on fuzzy mice, but when they are all gone I'm gonna try him on small rats. He is a complete pain when it comes to eating, not because he won't, but because he seems to eat them arse end first. Now this can be quite comical at times, but also frustrating when he has a tail and paws sticking out of his gob, which he then can't stretch around to fit in his mouth. Took him 15 mins the other week! |

No wonder he's not pooing, a Royal will never need a feed as small as a Fuzzy mouse, he's probably using all that up so there is no excess. |

Now I feel bad. What do you suggest I feed him on? What size? He is putting on weight and getting fatter so I assumed it was ok. I have four mice left so was gonna go onto rats next. I might just feed him double |

Sorry, didn't mean it like that. A hatching Royal could go straight onto a small adult mouse or a rat pup. I'd try rat pups myself. |

No worries, no offence taken. All advice is greatfully received. Next trip to pet store I'll pick up some rat pups. Cheers for the advice |

if he continues to eat rear end first you can make give the head a bit more blast of heat and see if that helps. you can also cut of the legs/feet to make it a bit easier or even break them so they are a bit earier from him to work around |
