Well, it's a rather sad dark evening - but only a month to the Solstice!

Just to liven things up a bit, following the success of Reptiledanny's user name thread, what are your snakes' names, and why did you call them that? Include other pets as well! AND what other names have you got up your sleeve for snakes on your wishlist????

To start the ball (pun intended!) rolling:

Shahi's name is Urdu for 'royal'. Saada is Arabic for 'happiness.' Right at the moment, if I got another royal, I'd call her/him 'Surahi', which is one of those Asian water pitchers with the slender neck and plump belly - just right for a royal python!

(Er... Shahi also answers to 'Sausage' ...)

The corns all have corny American names - Buffy, Spooky and Saffron are pretty obvious, given their morphs. My ex husband named Cy, Cyclops, because she's only got one eye. Spider got her name as I was putting her into her viv when she came home, and I said, 'come on, Spider.'

My tomcat (retired) Finn was a feral who turned up on St Patrick's day, so got called after the Irish hero, Finn McCool. Emily, another stray, is named after Emily Bronte. Mouse got brought along by Emily, and I took one look at her and said, 'hello, Mouse!' The name stuck ...

Right, over to you!

Brilliant names XD

Valhalla is named after Odin's mead hall (Norse mythology)

Diablo is "Devil"

I had a dog called Bear, he got the name when he was a puppy he looked like a teddy bear with huge oversized paws for his little runty body, he was a german shepard.

My girlfriend had a hampster called Penfold, from Dangermouse

Ah, I thought Valhalla was something Norse. And Diablo's a handsome little devil - it fits.

LOL - I once had a hamster called 'Savage' ...

our snakes have all been named by my wee girls and my big girl (wife), unfortunately.

we have
Meep Meep Gomez and Sassy Morticia the girls like the names, Hansel and Gretal as they are German, Misty and Foggy the weather was like that when we collected them, Hades as he was rather peachy they fancied giving him a butch name, Wee fella he was small when we got him, Orion just seemed to fit, Troy from High School Musical, Apache and Onyx seemed to fit the black rat snakes, Jesse was named because HE is a big softie, Calypso was easy shes a cali king, Phoenix has a phoenix pattern on his neck. Smeagol and Lei kept their names from previous owners. Probably missed one or two here though

LOL, those are cool! Lovely! The Addams family bit makes me laugh as well, because in my time I've been told I look like Morticia ... hmmm

My cornsnake is called Maple as he has a pattern on his head that looks like a maple leaf. My royal is called KingBob as I wanted to call him Bob and my wife said since he is royal it should be KingBob. As I do as I am told the name stuck :-)

LOL, that's what they all say! You know Maple is the colour of maple syrup as well? Oh, and there's some sort of ornamental maple wood with markings like that - he was well named!

Good names, and a good collection too - I don't know the first thing about morphs but do you breed or plan to breed - I'm guessing there could be some interesting possibilities there? (Sorry if I sound totally ignorant - I'm only just getting my head round the possibility of breeding normal to normal! lol.)

Well Orlina was Orlina when I got her it means Gold, but being a Buddhist I named her Orlina Bhodi Lobsang (Law-sang), Bodhi means Awaken and Lobsang means Fine mind

My 6 y/o Border Collie is named Jinky after the great Jimmy Johnstone which seems to fit because for being a dog he's great with a football lol

My 2 y/o Border Collie is called Chance because he was born with hips dysplasia in both back hips and a small hernia so no one wanted him and being no good to the farmer he'd probably have been put down but but he deserves the "Chance" of a good life like the rest of them. I wanted to call him Haggis because of his colours but the wife said she's not walking through the park shouting "HAGGIS" lol

Goldfish are the result of an insane wife n kids lol Ok I admit Haggis is mine being Scottish and the fact that he actually looks like a floating haggis lol

0.1.0 Royal Normal - Orlina Bodhi Lobsang
1.0.0 Royal Normal - Sedrick Rinzen Sonam
2.0.0 Cats 18 y/o - Monty, kitten - Dodger
2.0.0 Border Collie's 7 y/o - Jinky, 2 y/o - Chance
0.0.5 Goldfish - Haggis, Pookie, Oddball, Spongebob and Slimey (kids eh lol)
Strange creature, unknown species, wife likes to call it "teenage daughter"

Aw that's amazing - Buddhist names are really cool for snakes - they have the right contemplative flavour - I used to read a bit of Buddhist stuff myself and when I bred Siamese was going to call a kitten I'd booked Zazen Lotus; unfortunately the breeder reneged.

And Chance ... that's lovely - LOL, what was wrong with Haggis? -yeah, it's the poor doers that are special - it's why I bought my Cy with one eye, and, just as a coincidence, have offered to take on some problem corn babies - but that is another story!

I daren't give my fish names, though - every time I named one at first, it died ... probably my inexperience! So at least the nameless ones seem okay - love the names you've got for yours though - your sig always makes me laugh, plus the 'strange creature', bless her!

LOL, Nok, it's only a tabletop freezer - haven't got much room with all the vivs and tanks and stuff, but haven't had an answer re the corns yet. Well, not going to nag him - he knows I'm here, but yes, if they come and grow up ok and ... eight corns all nomming down a big mouse each every week!!!

We have some weard names in my lot.

Raj's full name is Dharmachari Nagaraja after the budist monk that dose pause for thought on radio 2, partly because my mum thinks hes marvoluse and partly because Nagaraja means king of snakes.

My corn was bread in Belgum and is called Nicole after a frend who is also from Belgum.

We have 4 cats:
Kofi after the former UN secutery general,
Salem, we got him while Sabrina the teenage witch was popular, hes ginger so when anyone ask is he black we look at them as if there mad and say no ginger.
Pele afeter to volcano godess,
and Orion after the cat in men in black.

The border collie is called evie because it suted her.

The best name story is that of my granddads german sheperd during the 80's he called her Thatcher "because she's a bitch!".

well meds is short for medusa and i think just about everyone knows her from greek mythology, she didnt have royal pythons for hair but when we were going through names it just seemed to stick.

Should i list the rest iv got a fair few :/
8 month old border collie called bandit - epic name for a bc
2 cockatiels nemo and darwin
2 canaries gaby and houdini
1 zebra finch laural, it was laural and hardy but sadly hardy passed on
2 chinese painted quals yin and yang
2 guinea pigs, squiggles and squeak
1 bengla cat, seth - he truly is the god of destruction
1 main coone, tigger - he bounces around just like tigger from winnie the poo (but came with this name from a rescue)
3 ferrets, sam (in memory of my childhood cat that passed at 19 yrs of age), missy and pheobie
5 chickens, not really pets as such but a mutual appreciate, i clean them, feed them organic foods, give them water and in return i get organic eggs, although there picking up nicknames from the wife i have tried not to name them, they will never go on the table but we live in an area with a lot of fox's.

sounds like a lot i know, but with exception to the tiels all the birds are in a small aviary and none of them really take much looking after, just a lot of spot cleaning.

Great names - and a baby salmon boa - bet he's fabulous! I'm jealous!

Brett, I once had to cat-sit for a Bengal cross - her name was Shakti and I swear she thought she WAS a goddess! I used to breed Siamese but Bengals are something else!

Fab names.
