Hi I'm rachel and i have recently gained a royal python after my Californian king snake died of what looked like a tumour (afterwards) which i was told by the herb vet was a pregnancy, I evan brought a hova bator and had eveything perfectly set out. And my dear Ziggy died in pain when i believed she was nesting. Anyway i have allot of bitterness out of a massive misdiagnosis from the herb vet.

The place i got her from got me a royal python for a goo price who i believe to be a 2008 Royal - reasoning behind my thinking is his head isn't as full size (but close) to a Adult royal. He's 102.5 cm and is 849g and is currently eating very well indeed which i'm very pleased about. The real shock between these species is royals are more squeezy (first encounter with Lancelot he as good as handcuffed me - whoops but lesson learnt) Lancelot HIDES but he is becoming more confident. Ziggy tail stropped and quick head moved is she felt unsettled (never got bitten from her and apparently that happens allot with king snakes so i suppose i got lucky there) and she did that lovely aroma too - Anyway she trained me up wonderfully even with the part of MUM i'm hungry which was the equivilent of women and PMT (just with a quicker cure) Ziggy loved laying on me watching the TV in the evenings. We loved her dearly and we miss her. Lancelot, New ball game and quite literally, loves coiling around everything. He loves arms, branches, chairs , anything really the he can get himself into a smug "ha, see if you can unwind me from this He's allot more speeder and i guessing he didn't get out much before by this. Hard somtimes getting him back inside the VIv, Quick turn around and see if she'll let me out longer. He's such a cheek and i adore his head raising -

I've come to jion this forum because there are differences and my experience with that idiot herb vet has tainted my faith in the. Humidity is something new which i'm hoping to get right shortly, because i have warm air heater in the house is hard to keep the air moist and Lancelots skin has gone flaky which i'm tacking at pressent. I've ordered a humidotometer (or what's called) and i'm spray bottling that viv often and one thing i'm pleased about is that he's just sussed out how to have a bath on his own. I placed him in a few times coiled to show him making sure it was warm and none scary - He doesn't seem like his had a full size water bowl before. ZIggy automaticly knew what to do and she kept her skin in check and Lancolot now knowing doing this will hopefully make it easier on myself now but i relize i need to mist the viv once in a while anyway. And he adores bath swims with no issues at all. Ziggy when i started her on this took patience to get her to relax . Lancelot just floats and takes it fully in his stride )ok with out the sride part )
I'm please to see other here with a passion for these creatures.
Aside from just Lancelot i have 1 budgies (half came through breeding two couples) One rescue Lovebird who lives in a seperate cage but he likes to mingle in sometimes.
Two cats and a hamster which is really the kids Russian hamster and is pathetic size in comparison to Lanceltots food but she's cute.
Or i could just say HI!!!! |

Ohhhhh You have a new Viv exotic viv. Yer vents are in backwards though (or you put the panel in backwards) Your king looked lovely. I agree with the royals not wanting to go back story. Sabre loves coming out and roaming round but as soon as you put her away she starts tapping waiting to come out again |

Hi Rachel and welcome!
VERY sorry to hear about Ziggy. They are all lent to us for a while, but when one of them dies needlessly ... Takes a long time for the anger and grief to go away. (In my case it was a cat, 4 years ago.)
I'm glad you got Lancelot - made me laugh about the coiling - Surahi, my new girl (she's only been here ten days) climbed straight up on to my shoulder when we first met and coiled firmly round my neck! (She's 4', so a big lass!) Love at first coil! It's hard to leave her to settle - can't wait to get her out again. My other two royals are brilliant - Shahi's still a bit of a baby, but very much 'his royal highness' and Saada is quite new too, so gentle ... And I have five corns as well ... and my cats ...fulll time job!
This forum's really good - I first looked at it when I fell in love with Shahi last July. I've learned so much, and people are so supportive (they even tolerate my terrible jokes!) |

hi and welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about the cali,i had a king die this year through egg binding.she looks massive in the first pic. As welly as mentioned the vent is the wrong way round and if it's not sealed in i would take it out and fit it from the inside before the royal pushes it out, that is if your using the same viv. |
