Hi guys, im making a background and hide. Im using polystyrene, grout, im not sure what other materials (paint, varnish ect) yet.

I have started with a cave, and for that i have used a piece of poly from when i bought my tv.

I will update here with pics ect as i progress.

but for now anybody else used this method? any tips would be helpful (like any certain types of grout, paint, ect)

Thats where i got the idea from lol.

The Jurassic Park one is awesome (and i dont like jurassic park lol)

Im more unsure of the materials (which are cheap/best, and which i should avoid due to toxins/unreliability ect)

EDIT* just clicked the link, which is one I have not seen before and the materials are all there. thanks

Good idea to put those like rocks in the corners, I bet they will assist in shedding.
Good idea that!

That's already looking great andy! Hows things progressing? I just made a tiered rock face for my sister-in-laws new gecko using your idea ; I made it to cover 2 sides, pinned it together with cocktail sticks as well as PVA glue and once dry I sprayed it with 'stone-touch' spray (from wilko's) , then a final coat of good ol poster paints.

Keep us updated matey

Looking good! I like the idea! I would think that any waterbased medium is better than oil/spirit based. Acrylic is inert when dry and many paints for diy use are now acrylic based.
Keep us posted!
